Are guys really ruthless when selecting a wife?

I don't know with the other guys but when I met my wife 7 years ago, I did see some negatives, but i didnt really care. and she even saw my bad side, but we worked things out and settled our differences to make our relationship work. Although, on a personal note, screening a woman to make sure she can bear a child or has money is not a true sign of love but the want for security. These guys usually dont have that happy ever after relationships because they get married for the wrong reasons...unless they get lucky along the way and they find love.
