Does Mariners' $100M contract with Ichiro make sense considering they gave up A-Rod because of high salary?

They gave up Randy Johnson in the past too. In my opinion, they should get some slugger to replace Richie ton instead. Yankees, who has money, should get Ichiro, by getting rid of Damon.
