I need to know what the difference is between wireless adaptors and routers?

A router is a device for separating and coordinating wireless or wired network connections from multiple machines on one network to another network. In common use this connects your home or office pcs to the internet. A wireless adaptor is a network card with wireless connection used to connect to another piece of wireless equipment, usually a wireless router.
