Do fans care about the history of pro wrestling or just about todays wwe?

I realize guys like Bruno Sammartino, Danny Hodge and Lou Thesz were wrestling before most of the fans here were born. I'm just wondering why fans get made when I mention older wrestlers and am trying to explain the history of wrestling as to how it is now. I see alot of people saying edge and Randy Orton are the top heels of all time......how can anyone who onlys knows the last 5 years and never bothers to learn more give a correct answer?
