Is it necessary to do an end-of-season wax on my snowboard?

I bought my board at Sport Chalet, and they offer 3 in season waxes and 1 end of season wax free with purchase. Is it really necessary to do an end of season wax? I only used the board for about 4 days during last season, since I bought it in April!
